Detailed Information for Au Pairs

Do you enjoy working with children? Do you like traveling? Would you like to learn a new language? Would you like to move to Switzerland or Liechtenstein for one year, live with a good family and help them by looking after their children and doing light housework? If you answered yes to these questions, this job could be a great experience for you! Wind Connections is an officially licensed Aupair agency and we can help you find a good family. Interviews for candidates are in Vancouver, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Sherbrooke and Sydney. We also work with partner agencies in other countries to help the interview and selection process.

WHO CAN APPLY FOR AN AUPAIR JOB ?

  • Candidates between the age of 18 & 25
  • Candidates with relevant experience with children
  • Candidates with a valid Canadian/Australian/USA/Swiss passport can apply directly on this site. Other nationalities can apply via our partner agencies.
  • Candidates without a criminal record

WHAT DOES AN AUPAIR DO?
As an Au Pair:

  • You live with the family that employs you for 12 months.
  • You have your own personal room and often a private bathroom.
  • You work 30 hours a week to help the family with childcare duties and light housework. You may also be asked to baby-sit one to two evenings per week.
  • You go to school at least 3 hours per week to learn a new language and during your free time, you can enjoy your favorite hobby, do sports, travel and meet new friends!

In return, the family employing you will:

  • Pay our agency fees related to your placement in their family and all charges to obtain your official visa and work permit.
  • Provide your room and board and pay you a salary between SFr 700 to SFr 800 per month (based on your age and the number of children under your care).
  • Pay 4 weeks of vacation for 1 complete year of work. If you are under 20 years of age, you will get 5 weeks.
  • Pay your language lessons in an official school (approximately SFr 100 / month).
  • Pay at least 50% of your health insurance with accident coverage for the duration of your stay (between SFr 60 to SFr 75 per month).
  • Additionally, employers often pay your income taxes and social security contribution in Switzerland or Liechtenstein (about SFr 200 per month) as well as half of your airplane ticket if you stay 1 year and do your job well.

WHAT ARE THE SELECTION CRITERIA FOR AN AUPAIR JOB?

Every candidate will be interviewed to evaluate:

  • Your interests and positives experiences working with children. Important personal qualities for the job like honesty, reliability, self confidence, patience, maturity, ability to communicate and listen, ability to handle responsibilities, flexibility and creativity.
